Successful Auction Day at Telstra Tower!

On behalf of the LDA, Raine & Horne Commercial Canberra successfully sold the following sites at an auction on Wednesday the 20th, held at Telstra Towers, newly refurbished Meeting Rooms, the Executive Briefing Centre:

The last remaining Coombs terrace sites; Section 5 sold for $4.95m and Section 6 for $5.35m. Coombs Section 4, a multi unit site, sold for $4.85m.

The Franklin multi-use/unit site sold for $3.5m.

Renowned auctioneer and TV celebrity, Damien Cooley, the twice wining auctioneer on the hit TV series “The Block” had the crowd bidding away behind a backdrop of sweeping Canberra views.

In a coup for local Canberra agent, Frank Morella, Managing Director of Raine and Horne Commercial Canberra, has taken out the prestigious “Transaction of the Year” award at the recent national DEXUS awards.

 The 19th annual DEXUS Property Group’s Excellence in Agency awards were held last Friday night, 5th of October at Sydney’s Doltone House. The annual awards recognise agent and agency performance on leasing and sales transactions successfully completed on behalf of DEXUS Property Group during the financial year.

 Frank Morella took out top honours, of “Transaction of the Year” award, for leasing 10,883m² at Garema Court, Canberra.

 Frank and his team, notably Mark Terracini, successfully secured the lease of the Garema Court building to DRALGAS, the Federal Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport. The Government department took the entire building, with no downtime for DEXUS. In a market with considerable vacancy, the deal added millions to the value of the DEXUS building.

 The award was presented by television host Natalie Gruzlewski.

 A clearly elated Mr Morella said the award “recognised a major transaction and also acknowledged the relationship forged with this major national property trust”.

He also stated the award “…bolsters our reputation in the market and further proves that a local Canberra agent can give the national market a run for their money, especially given the other national deals I’ve made on behalf of DEXUS, including transactions in Parramatta, Sydney and Hobart, Tasmania”.

Iconic Garema Court – RHCC Achieves Record Leasing Deal

In an A.C.T. record deal for 2012, Raine & Horne Commercial Canberra on behalf of Dexus Property group, have 100% leased the office component of Garema Court to the Commonwealth Government on a 12 year lease.

 The new lease has seen the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport (DRALGAS) take 10,883sqm of space as the sole office tenant in the building for a term of 12 years.  This is a remarkable result by RHCC considering the present economic and political uncertainty that has affected the commercial property market.

Not only is the CBD’s most recognised office building set to get new tenants but the building  is getting a major overhaul both mechanically and cosmetically. The refurbishment which is well underway, is designed to be comparable to an  ‘A’ grade building with Garema Court now achieving a 4.5 NABERS energy rating.

 The cosmetic upgrades include a full foyer re-design and refurbishment including higher ceilings, plus incorporating an integrated cafe space.

The ground floor cafe space is available for lease and with 7 tenanted floors above and busy pedestrian traffic this is an excellent opportunity for an astute operator.
